Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. It helps you better understand yourself, build healthier coping strategies, improve relationships, and move toward greater balance and well-being. Many people simply welcome having an uninterrupted time and space to focus fully on themselves and be listened to, heard, and validated by someone who cares and has the tools to help.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply want to gain new insights and better yourself, therapy can be helpful. Many people come to therapy during times of transition, stress, or uncertainty, but it can also be a powerful tool for ongoing personal growth.
Our sessions are collaborative conversations. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening in your life, identify your goals, and work on strategies that support your healing and growth. You set the pace, and sessions are always facilitated with compassion and respect. You can request to meet in person, online, or we can agree to meet on the bike path and walk while we talk. Sessions run approximately 50minutes with the last 10 minutes set aside for documentation.
Everyone’s journey is different. Some people find just a few months of therapy helpful, while others may stay with their therapist for years for ongoing support. We’ll regularly check in about your progress so therapy fits your needs and goals.
No, I work with teens, adults, and families of all identities, backgrounds, and life experiences. However, I am particularly passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals and families because of my extensive work as a school advocate and as the parent of two queer children. This community faces many unique challenges and we need more affirming, dedicated clinicians in the field to ensure equitable outcomes.
At this time, I do not accept insurance. Choosing to work outside of insurance allows me to protect your privacy, avoid restrictions on the type or length of therapy, and ensure your care is guided by your needs rather than an insurance company’s requirements. Many clients also choose this route to avoid having a mental health diagnosis on their permanent health record.
Many insurance companies offer some type of out-of-network coverage. If you wish to use OON benefits, full fees are payable at the time of service. However, I can provide you with a monthly superbill which is a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. Please understand, that should you take this route, the superbill requires me to provide a diagnosis and service details, which means that the insurance company will have access to this information as part of their permanent record.
*Please call your insurance company for their policy and procedure on your reimbursement as different companies have different protocols.

Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients who reside in CT.
A Reiki student begins with the Level I certification, which focuses on self-healing. To provide Reiki for others, offer distance healing, and eventually teach and attune students, three additional levels of training, attunements, and hands-on practice are required. This could take many months or years depending on each student’s pace and progress with the material. Additionally, Reiki Masters often embrace clean, holistic living, ongoing spiritual development, and personal healing as it improves our intuition and energy work outcomes.
Absolutely. Reiki is gentle and safe for all ages, including children and animals. They may be shorter sessions, however, because many children and animals can get wiggly and restless after a certain amount of time.
